About Laura

Laura Fries is an award-winning producer and accomplished assistant director whose work is driven by a commitment to bold, inclusive storytelling. As a proud Korean adoptee, she is passionate about championing underrepresented voices and bringing diverse perspectives to the screen.

Before moving behind the camera, Laura built her career as an actor and stunt performer, experiences that continue to inform her keen understanding of performance, collaboration, and on-set dynamics. She is a graduate of NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts and a proud member of the Directors Guild of America, the Television Academy, SAG-AFTRA, and Actors’ Equity Association.

Laura’s recent industry recognition includes selection for Tribeca’s Through Her Lens Program, sponsored by Chanel, and serving as a producer for the Proof of Concept Accelerator, sponsored by Netflix, Dirty Films, and the USC Annenberg Inclusion Initiative. She was also a fellow with the Producers Guild of America’s highly competitive Create Lab fellowship, where she further developed her creative producing and project development expertise.

Her additional honors include selection for the Stowe Producers Lab, Sidewalk Narrative Lab, and NALIP Media Accelerator, as well as being named a Tribeca Untold Stories Finalist.

Combining creative vision with production leadership, Laura brings strategic insight, resourcefulness, and a deep dedication to character-driven storytelling. She is committed to developing impactful projects that elevate BIPOC voices and resonate with audiences across genres and platforms.
